Words by Brandalynn Nuñez Lovers and heartthrobs gather round, as St. Augustine originating band Quarter Roy has released something for all of our inner romantics. The female-fronted band formed in 2018 by lead vocalist Gabrielle (Gabi) Yost, later adding Tyler Cooper-Kolb on lead guitar as well as Kaylie Gesky on bass.

After listening to previous tracks such as “Monday”--or as I like to call it, “summer encapsulated in 2 minutes and 53 seconds”-- it’s no surprise that new track Darlin’ is just as dreamy. With its release date right on Valentine’s Day combined with lead vocalist’s repetition of the line “I dream of you all the time”, this song makes me want to run out and confess my adoration to my current crush.

It’s the repetition of that single line which tugged at my heartstrings, had me roped into daydreams of slow dancing with the one I love under a glittering disco ball (such as the one featured in the single’s art).

This warm tune has me excited to see what Quarter Roy has in store for us next and let’s hope we don’t have to wait long to find out.

You can find Quarter Roy on Spotify and Apple Music, and stay up to date with Instagram and Twitter.
