The weather forecast was not looking too good the day of the already postponed 100 Gecs show; the rain chance stayed at around 60% the entire day. The day before the concert fans of the duo were left wondering: is this even going to happen?
Jannus Live made a post on their Instagram confirming the concert would go on rain or shine hours before the opener would take the stage. Fans lined up in droves, as for many concertgoers it was their first show back since Covid-19 took live music from us. I could see the excitement on the crowd's face as the doors opened and security began scanning tickets. The general mood that could be read from the queue was "finally, live music is back."
The opener Alice Gas sampled the iconic “SHUT UP” intro from old Smosh videos and the crowd was loving it. The barricade was shaking, the middle of the pit was moshing, it was a beautiful sight to see.
Alice ended the set with a hyper pop remix of Basket Case by Green Day that got the whole crowd harmonizing. The clouds overhead looked menacing, and there were still 30 minutes until 100 Gecs came on stage. But the weather pulled through, and the duo came on sporting wizard capes and hats. The crowd erupted in cheers, and you could feel the ground shaking beneath you.

They played “Stupid Horse” second and I swear the barricade was seconds away from being knocked down----it was amazing. The energy from the crowd was unlike anything I’ve ever seen, and I have been to a lot of shows in my lifetime.
This show was part of their “10,000 Gecs” tour for their upcoming sophomore album of the same name, so naturally, they played a lot of unreleased tracks from the project. Even though the crowd didn’t know the words to said tracks, they still kept the same insane energy.

Towards the end of the set, the looming clouds finally erupted and the rain came down on us unforgivingly.
It was truly something out of a movie. The strobe lights were blinding, but paired with the rain and the piercing guitar solo from Laura Les, it was an unforgettable moment. The crowd welcomed the rain with open arms and it could not have come at a more perfect time in the set.
They kept their promise and continued to play their whole set even with the rain coming down. They ended on their iconic hit “800db cloud” and the crowd went crazy as a result. Multiple mosh pits were going and people on the barricade were headbanging harder than I've ever seen. It felt like I was at a hardcore show: and it was fucking awesome.
